The dataset was created by the [Chesapeake Conservancy](https://www.chesapeakeconservancy.org/) [Conservation Innovation Center](https://www.chesapeakeconservancy.org/conservation-innovation-center/) for the [Chesapeake Bay Program](https://www.chesapeakebay.net/), which is a regional partnership of EPA, other federal, state, and local agencies and governments, nonprofits, and academic institutions that leads and directs Chesapeake Bay restoration efforts.\n\nThe dataset is composed of 17 land use classes in Virginia and 16 classes in all other jurisdictions.
